Matt Damon finally gets it right: ‘I should get in the back seat and close my mouth for a while’

TwitterFacebook

It’s a rough time in Hollywood these days, but Matt Damon has had a particularly rough go of it with repeated attempts to speak about sexual assault and harassment that have been slammed even by other celebrities. Damon went on TODAY to talk about the nonprofit Water.org and offered a few words about the Time’s Up and #MeToo movements in Hollywood – and this time, he may get it.

“I really wish I’d listened a lot more before I weighed in on this,” Damon said, adding that he didn’t think he had been a good listener. “I don’t want to further anybody’s pain with anything that I do or say. So for that I am really sorry.” Read more…

Eliza Dushku says she was ‘sexually molested’ at age 12 while working on ‘True Lies’

TwitterFacebook

“When I was 12 years old, while filming True Lies, I was sexually molested by Joel Kramer, one of Hollywood’s leading stunt coordinators.”

So begins Eliza Dushku’s heart-wrenching #MeToo Facebook post, which she shared early on Saturday morning. The post goes on to relate, in great detail, the way Kramer allegedly first groomed her and then lured her to his Miami hotel near the set of the 1994 film.

It’s a graphic and frankly disturbing read, made all the moreso by our knowledge of just how young Dushku was at the time. But, like much of what’s come out of Hollywood (and plenty of other industries) in this moment of reckoning for sexual predators, it’s an important document. Read more…

TwitterFacebook

I posted how I felt on Instagram: “Can’t add one more plan tired. Hard to get excited about exciting things tired. Can’t project, assume, or read minds tired. I’m letting myself be tired, be imperfect, be how I am. It is time to hibernate and make meaning of this year, understand the lessons.”

Five hundred people gave it a heart within a few hours. People reached out to me to say they are also tired — exhausted, really. Falling out in meetings, losing things, fighting with loved ones, letting hopelessness have our tongues.  Read more…
